As part of our SWT Green Steel Strategy, we are continuously reducing our CO2 emissions. In the area of logistics, we have so far achieved a saving of 8,400 tonnes* a year with extensive measures: we send over 70% of our section packages by rail, the most climate-friendly mode of transport. We continue to shift transports from truck to rail, for example by using combined transport. For a long time, we have been using CO2-neutral transports from DB Cargo in Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland.
Since spring, we have also negotiated the use of a climate-neutral rail tariff for Austria: with our cooperation partner Rail Cargo Logistics, we transport our steel to the Austrian delivery locations using exclusively renewable energies (green electricity). Our high priority is given to the expansion of CO2-neutral transports that is constantly being expanded.
