External Logistics

We achieveCO2 reductions through a high proportion of rail transports, which already have zero greenhouse gas emissions on a large proportion of routes. We prioritize logistics modes with lowCO2 emissions as early as the order negotiation stage with our customers.

Since 2021, we have been using the DB-eco tariff for transport to Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and to Switzerland, saving up to 8,000 tons ofCO2 every year.

In future, truck transportation will be carried out using biodiesel, hydrogen or the latest truck drive technology .

For ship logistics and port handling, we prefer logistics technologies and partners who offer reducedCO2 emissions.

Internal Logistics

Our long-term goal is: replacing of all combustion engines by sustainable technologies such as electricity, fuel cells or green fuels. This will affect all means of transportation within our company:

Vehicles

Scrap Ferries

Locomotives

sustainable mobility in Stahlwerk Thüringen

We have installed the first electric charging points for electric cars. As a pilot project, the company’s own vehicles as well as our customers and suppliers can charge at two charging stations. In the long term, the charging current will also be made available to our employees. The charging stations will partly be provided with solar energy generated by photovoltaic systems on carport roofs.
